Fancy Vivid Coloured Diamonds and Cartier Designs Lead Bonhams Jewels Sale

Hong Kong - Bonhams will present Hong Kong Jewels & Jadeite sale on 22 May. The curated live sale will showcase a notable collection of exquisite designs featuring fancy coloured diamonds and gemstones, an important fancy vivid pink diamond, rubies, sapphires and emeralds from maisons including Boucheron, Bulgari, David Morris, De Grisogono, Harry Winston, Mikimoto, Ronald Abram, Roger Dubuis, and Van Cleef & Arpels. The sale also includes a collection of exceptional Cartier jewels ranging in date from Art Deco to modern designs along with a rare 181.61 carat unmounted Paraiba-type tourmaline by contemporary fine jeweller Kat Florence.

Leading the sale is an important fancy vivid pink diamond and diamond ring. The exceptional diamond weighing 1.08 carats, of straight vivid pink colour without any secondary hue, rare of its type with internally flawless clarity, set in a contemporary design, is offered with an estimate of HK$3,900,000-5,000,000.

Another notable lot is the 'Kat Florence Lumina', an impressive, unmounted Paraiba-type tourmaline, weighing 181.61 carats. The unheated and untreated gemstone of Mozambique origin is of high clarity and fine cut and is internally flawless with a natural, greenish blue hue. The rare gemstone is offered with an estimate of HK$3,000,000-5,000,000.

Stewart Young, Bonhams Director of Jewellery and Head of Jewellery Asia commented: "The forthcoming Hong Kong Jewels & Jadeite sale features an impressive collection of Cartier designs including a rare signature masterpiece double-headed "Panthère" bracelet along with exceptional fancy coloured diamond rings, one set with a striking fancy vivid yellow diamond and one with a fancy vivid pink colour diamond, both internally flawless in clarity. A sale highlight is the 181.61 carats unmounted Paraiba-type tourmaline. Paraiba tourmalines over 100 carats and without treatment are extremely rare and highly sought after making the Kat Florence Lumina a rarity with its exceptional clean clarity and carat weight. We are excited to present the jewel alongside the other exceptional lots to collectors around the world."

Other notable lots include:

· A pair of Harry Winston ruby and diamond earrings of natural, Burmese origin and no indication of heat treatment, weighing 6.96 carats and 6.98 carats. The earrings are offered with an estimate of HK$2,850,000-3,800,000.

· A pair of unmounted emeralds, of natural crystal-clear clarity and Columbian origin weighing 20.06 and 19.95 carats. The emeralds are offered with an estimate of HK$650,000 – 1,200,000.

Included in the sale is a collection of Cartier jewellery ranging in dates from Art Deco to modern designs. Sale highlights include:

· A rare Cartier diamond and sapphire "Panthère" bracelet. The signature Panthère bracelet crafted in platinum, is designed as two opposing panther heads, pavé-set throughout with brilliant-cut diamonds and rare-use of buff-top sapphire spots, replacing ordinary onyx. The Panthère is set with emerald eyes and an onyx nose. The bracelet has a total diamond weight of 17.50 carats and is offered with an estimate of HK$1,200,000-2,500,000.

· A Cartier diamond 'Agrafe' demi-parure necklace, bracelet and earring set, featuring a clasp motif inspired by corsets. The collection is fully pavé-set with brilliant-cut diamonds and is offered with an estimate of HK$300,000-450,000.

· A Cartier diamond bracelet of arabesque design from the high jewellery collection, set with round brilliant-cut diamonds. Offered with an estimate of HK$120,000-250,000.

· A Cartier Paris, pink sapphire and diamond brooch, circa 1920. The design features a 8.27 carat pink sapphire, set to the center of an Art Deco motif set with round brilliant-cut and baguette diamonds. The brooch is offered with an estimate of HK$100,000-200,000.

Other notable lots include:

· A fancy vivid yellow diamond and diamond ring, weighing 7.03 carats of natural, internally flawless clarity. The ring is offered with an estimate of HK$2,000,000-2,500,000.

· A spinel and diamond ring featuring an unheated15.06 carat orangy-red spinel of Tanzanian origin set with diamonds. Offered with an estimate of HK$1,500,000-2,000,000.

· A de Grisogono coloured sapphire, garnet and diamond necklace. The unheated multi-coloured sapphire of Burmese origin, weighing 83.23 carats is offered with an estimate of HK$380,000-550,000.

· A Mikimoto black opal ring. The design features a fiery rainbow coloured black opal, weighing 3.15 carats and is offered with an estimate of HK$280,000-380,000.

Alongside the live sale, Hong Kong, for the first time, will present a Single-Owner Collection online sale taking place on bonhams.com on 17– 26 May. The 126-lot sale includes a collection from a renowned southeast Asian collector. A sale highlight includes a Jadeite and Diamond demi-parure necklace, ring and earring matching set. Designed of natural jadeite cabochons and set within round brilliant-cut diamond clusters, the set is offered with an estimate of HK$200,000-400,000.
