Boston – Bonhams will present The Encyclopaedic Whisky Collection , an exquisite and comprehensive compilation of whiskies, boasting exceptional provenance and impeccable storage. Built over the last 25 years by a passionate collector, this collection will offer over 300 lots across two sales presented in the US with the live sale taking place on June 26 and the online sale of 250 lots, all offered without reserve, running from June 9-30. This auction presents the largest collection of spirits ever offered at Bonhams in the US, and it will also be the inaugural live auction held at the brand-new Bonhams Skinner saleroom at 236 Clarendon Street.

This one-of-a-kind assortment originates from a single American consignor and a true spirits connoisseur, who has spent the past two-plus decades meticulously amassing his collection – considerably one of the world's most comprehensive. This offering presents a complete history of Scotland's greatest whiskies and includes the very best of both American and Japanese whisky.

Amayès Aouli, Bonhams Global Head of Wine & Spirits, commented : "The Encyclopaedic Collection is a landmark in every sense – the largest single-owner spirits offering ever presented by Bonhams in the United States, and now marking the opening of our new Boston saleroom. It embodies the vision, scale, and ambition of a passionate collector and also echoes anew and transformative chapter for Bonhams."

Sean Purce, Senior Specialist of Fine Wines and Rare Spirits at Bonhams, added: "An undeniable common thread linking the offerings in this sale is that these distilleries, and this consignor, have all resisted, and continue to resist, the temptation to compromise. Instead, they've doubled down on craftsmanship, and eye for the future, and staying true to their beliefs, knowing true excellence in whisky is measured by the depth of its flavour and the integrity of its liquid. For one collector to possess the most prized whiskies of the world is, to say the least, encyclopedic."

Among the 52 lots featured in the live sale on June 26, a major highlight will be a series of Macallan in Lalique Six Pillars alongside the DCS Compendium Chapters 1-5 . This represents a significant milestone, as it marks the first time a complete Macallan Six Pillars set has been offered alongside all five chapters of the DCS Compendium collection.

The unique collaboration between the Macallan distillery and the esteemed French crystal maker Lalique will all be offered as individual lots. The partnership between Lalique and Macallan lasted over a decade and resulting in six unique pieces of art that carry each expression. The bottles range in age from 50 to 65 years, with estimates between $46,000 and $75,000.

The DCS Compendium Chapters 1-5, all represented in this sale, were launched in 2015 to honour the legacy of Malt Master David C. Stewart. This is the first time all five chapters of the DCS Compendium have ever been offered in the same auction. Each chapter comprises five single cask whiskies from different decades, exploring unique themes: Chapter One focuses on 'Distillery Style', while Chapters Two to Five delve into 'The Influence of Oak', 'Secrets of the Stock Model', 'Expecting the Unexpected', and 'Malt Master's Indulgence'. Estimates for these chapters range from $34,000 to $50,000.

The remaining 250 lots will be available at no reserve in an online auction running from June 9to 30, called Bonhams Skinner : The Encyclopaedic Whisky Collection : No Reserve Online Edition.
