Abu Dhabi, September 12, 2025 – With only 64 road specification McLaren F1s ever produced, it is exceptionally rare for one to be offered at auction, and for such a car to be offered alongside a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 is nothing short of history in the making, marking the first time a T.50 has ever been offered at auction.

1994 McLaren F1

With the F1, Gordon Murray and his team of designers at McLaren did not set out to create the world’s fastest road car; they set out to design a car that harnessed Formula 1 technology and pioneering carbon fibre construction to create the ultimate driving experience. With an incredible 6,064-cc BMW V-12 engine which produced 627 brake horsepower, McLaren created a road car of such magnificence and capability that it broke all the established performance records of the era, and continued to be the benchmark by which all subsequent supercars were measured for years to come.

Offered at Collectors’ Week is the 14th of just 64 road-specification examples. Chassis number 014 was originally configured in the bright shade of Titanium Yellow over a black leather and Alcantara interior ahead of being delivered to the Brunei Royal Family. In 2007 the F1 visited McLaren headquarters in Woking for a complete rebuild and was changed to its current Ibis White livery and fitted with the desirable High-Downforce Kit, featuring a fixed rear spoiler, a GTR-derived new front bumper and splitter, plus LM-specification louvres for the front wings. At the time of its refit, chassis 014 was the last of only eight F1s to gain the High-Downforce Kit treatment. Further changes included the black-painted, GTR-style, five-spoke wheels built by OZ Racing, while the cabin was also converted to LM-specification.

Prior to this car’s colour change, the door sill had been signed by Michael Schumacher, with the autograph dated 12 March 1996. Following the repaint in 2007, the car was signed by another seven-time World Champion in the making. The left-hand-side luggage compartment still bears the autograph of ex-McLaren driver Sir Lewis Hamilton, who was then completing his rookie F1 campaign. This F1 is accompanied by its original Facom tool chest and two pieces of fitted luggage that are specifically designated to chassis 014. With fewer than 14,000 kilometres, this remarkable and highly documented car is estimated to sell for in excess of $21,000,000 USD.

2025 Gordon Murray Automotive T.50

Collectors’ Week will mark the first time a Gordon Murray Automotive T.50 has been publicly offered at auction. The example offered is the 35th out of only 100 production T.50s, a car which not only carries the torch first lit by the McLaren F1, but which, 30 years later, has established itself as one of the greatest driver’s cars of all time.

Featuring a naturally aspirated 4.0-litre V-12 developed by Cosworth, the powerplant is the lightest engine of its type yet boasts a phenomenal pickup speed, capable of 28,400 rpm a second and delivering 661 horsepower to the rear wheels via a six-speed Xtrac manual transmission.

Offered in Abu Dhabi is chassis 035, specified by its commissioning owner in mid-2022. The car has been elegantly configured in Harrier paint with Gloss Carbon, while the exterior is accented by Dark Grey gloss wheels and Black callipers for the Brembo carbon-ceramic brakes. This car’s bespoke finish includes body-coloured lower surfaces, Silver script on the engine plenum, glass roof panels, and Heritage Orange (a nod to the colour of Murray’s first design, the T.1 racecar) enamel badging and springs. It was also specified with the Touring sixth gear ratio. Delivered new to Denmark in 2025, this car has been very sparingly driven, and currently displays fewer than 300 kilometres. It is accompanied by a four-piece fitted luggage set designated for this chassis, a tool chest, and a diagnostic tablet computer (Estimate: In excess of $5,000,000).

This is no ordinary auction. It is the birth of a new global gathering for collectors, conceived by Sotheby’s and promoted with the strategic support of the Abu Dhabi Investment Office (ADIO). Abu Dhabi Collectors’ Week will be a stage where art, design, fine jewellery, watches, real estate, and automobiles unite under one vision: to celebrate rarity, beauty, and exclusivity.
