Kering is committed to eliminating single use plastic packaging across its BtoB and BtoC operations by 2025. Since the release of the Kering Standards for Raw Materials and Manufacturing Processes in 2018, the Group has taken into account circularity when developing new packaging solutions. For the first time, Kering is publishing its Ecodesign Tool for Packaging Items. Developed in collaboration with CITEO+, it regroups insights and knowledge accumulated by the Group over the years. In line with Kering’s commitment to an open-sourced approach and transparency, this toolkit focuses on packaging design and implementation strategies. It aims to provide other industry players with recommendations to reduce their dependence on single-use plastic packaging and comply with upcoming European regulations. Several of the Group’s Houses have already implemented some of these solutions. For instance, in 2019, Gucci switched to reusable protective plastic boxes for transporting accessories from warehouses in Italy to suppliers. The good practices conceived within this project are now being extended to other countries, with the launch of a pilot project in France in early 2024 to transport products from warehouses to stores. Additionally, as part of its Take Back program, since 2019, Gucci has been recovering industrial packaging such as trays, covers, and cardboard tubes to be reused in raw material transportation, involving 37 actors in its supply chain. As part of Saint Laurent's commitment to the elimination of single-use plastic in all operations, the plastic used to protect leather goods in their BtoC has been replaced with FSC-certified lyocell in 2023. By November 2024, Saint Laurent will launch the production of 100% FSC-certified paptic covers for BtoB for delicate garments, marking the transition from polypropylene covers. Looking at other BtoC initiatives, Pomellato now offers shoppers a 100% FSC certified paper construction shopping bag, with handles made from 100% open weave paper and reinforced bottoms for durability. This new shopper showcases the jewelry House’s commitment to sustainability, without compromising on luxury. As a leader in the transition towards sustainable luxury, Kering is not only committed to scaling these initiatives and ensuring that all of its Houses meet the 2025 targets but also providing solutions for the rest of the industry. About Kering Kering is a global, family-led luxury group, home to people whose passion and expertise nurture creative Houses across couture and ready-to-wear, leather goods, jewelry, eyewear and beauty: Gucci, Saint Laurent, Bottega Veneta, Balenciaga, McQueen, Brioni, Boucheron, Pomellato, Dodo, Qeelin, Ginori 1735, as well as Kering Eyewear and Kering Beauté.
