NEW YORK – 21 MAY 2025 – Phillips is proud to present highlights from The New York Jewels Auction taking place on Thursday, 12 June at 10AM EDT. Comprised of 105 lots, the sale features an impressive selection of signed jewels from renowned jewelry maisons, including Tiffany & Co., Van Cleef & Arpels, Bulgari, Chaumet, and others. Among these signed jewels are antique, vintage, and contemporary examples. Superb colored gemstones and impressive diamonds also feature prominently.

Cristina Rodrigo, Specialist, Head of Sale, said, “We are delighted to present collectors with such an extraordinary selection in our upcoming New York Jewels Auction, including stunning examples of signed jewels, showstopping colored gemstones, and impressive diamonds. Among the most compelling highlights is the Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. ‘Etoile de Mer’ brooch — a striking expression of Jean Schlumberger’s visionary design. As Tiffany’s recent ‘Sea of Wonder’ high jewelry collection draws inspiration from his original 1960s creations, the timing of this brooch’s appearance feels especially resonant. We look forward to welcoming our collecting community to preview the sale in our New York galleries from 8-11 June. With a collection of jewels spanning decades of masterful design and craftsmanship, and an array of fine colored gemstones and diamonds at varying price points, there is something to delight every connoisseur and collector.”

SIGNED JEWELS

Phillips is thrilled to honor Jean Schlumberger’s extraordinary creativity by presenting an exquisite Schlumberger for Tiffany & Co. ‘Etoile de Mer’ sapphire, tsavorite, and diamond brooch. The French jewelry designer famously revitalized Tiffany & Co. during his tenure at the brand, creating bold, dazzling designs adored by the most fashionable women of the time, such as Rachel Lambert Mellon, Jacqueline Kennedy, and Elizabeth Taylor. The starfishshaped brooch’s appearance at auction coincides with Tiffany’s 2025 Blue Book high jewelry collection, ‘Sea of Wonder’. Unveiled earlier this spring the collection draws from Schlumberger’s original designs, which reflect his lifelong fascination with the natural world, especially marine life.

Two exceptional examples from Van Cleef & Arpels are among the most distinguished in the signed jewels category. The first is a diamond necklace from the maison’s current high jewelry collection, ‘Folie des Prés,' which celebrates the beauty and untamed spirit of wildflowers. The present example features approximately 24.0 carats of diamonds set in 18k white gold. Diamond Necklace, 'Folie des Prés' Estimate: $40,000 – 60,000 Complementing this is a diamond ‘Galuchat’ bangle, adorned with a shagreen-patterned, textured design and set with diamonds weighing between 17.0 and 19.0 carats. Together, these creations reflect the maison’s enduring commitment to elegance, innovation, and the art of storytelling through jewelry.

Also included is an impressive, signed bronze ring by Hemmerle, the beloved family-run jeweler known for its bold designs that incorporate color and unusual materials. The present example centers on a Malayan garnet weighing 11.79 carats, set in an ultra-modern bronze and white gold mounting. Another highlight in the category — Boivin’s rock crystal and diamond brooch from the 1930s — showcases an x-shaped design of circular-cut diamonds mounted in platinum and bordered by a scalloped pattern of rock crystal.

Several of the signed jewels in the sale feature very fine colored gemstones. Examples from Bulgari include a sapphire and diamond ‘Trombino’ ring, a popular engagement ring style for bold wearers. The unheated sapphire of Ceylon origin weighs 14.03 carats and is accompanied by an SSEF certificate. Another elegant example from Bulgari is a pair of ruby and diamond ear clips. Each clip is designed as a flower and set with oval and cushion shaped Burmese rubies with no evidence of heat, totaling approximately 8.50-9.00 carats. The exquisite jewels are highlighted with marquise-shaped and brilliant-cut diamonds mounted in platinum and 18k gold and are accompanied by an AGL certificate. Another standout of the category is an emerald and diamond bracelet from Chaumet featuring Colombian emeralds graduating in size, weighing a total of approximately 10.0 - 11.0 carats with an insignificant to minor amount of clarity enhancement using traditional oil. The bracelet is also accompanied by an AGL certificate.

SUPERB COLORED GEMSTONES

Superb colored gemstones are among the most striking lots in the sale. An emerald and diamond ring featuring a step-cut Colombian emerald of superb quality, dazzles — weighing 13.36 carats with no clarity enhancement. The ring is accompanied by five certificates, including an SSEF, AGL, Gubelin, and GRS, as well as a Muzo Certificate of Origin and Traceability from the mine, which is widely recognized as the top locale for the finest emeralds in the world.

Another exquisite emerald and diamond ring is featured in the sale. The present example features a step-cut Colombian emerald weighing 10.60 carats with minor clarity enhancement using traditional oil set between tapered baguette diamond shoulders. The stunning jewel is accompanied by Gubelin and GRS certificates.

The sale also presents a fine selection of rubies and sapphires, including a ruby and diamond ring featuring an oval ruby of very fine color. Of Burmese origin and weighing 3.91 carats, the ruby with no evidence of heat treatment is accompanied by SSEF and GRS reports certifying these details.  Another stellar jewel in the category is a sapphire and diamond ring featuring an oval-shaped sapphire of Ceylon origin. Weighing 8.03 carats, the sapphire is of very fine color with no evidence of heat treatment. Set beautifully in a regal mounting, the jewel is accompanied by AGL and GRS certificates, the latter stating the color as “Royal Blue.”

IMPRESSIVE DIAMONDS

Impressive diamonds add glamorous flair to the sale, led by a radiant cut fancy intense pink diamond ring weighing 3.03 carats, as well as a fancy vivid yellow diamond ring, cut in an oval shape, weighing 4.43 carats. A colorless emerald cut diamond ring weighing 6.03 carats with F color and VVS1 clarity offers exceptional brilliance and nearflawless purity — an exquisite example of timeless elegance and refined craftsmanship that will captivate the most discerning collectors.
